Four Pillars of Transform Residency

Artistic Development

Assisting artists in stewarding their creative talents through different means of artistic growth. This is different for each resident and staff member. The aim is to give artists the time and space to prioritize the creation of their art and the refining of their craft while being in community with other believers in similar pursuits.

Spiritual Development

Providing space to wrestle with the integration of their art and faith so that they may live whole, undivided lives. We seek to ground artists in their identity in Christ and provide a robust biblical and theological education. With this as their foundation they learn to be confident in engaging in conversations about their faith, helping others to grow in their faith, and encouraging others to do the same in an ever-changing cultural landscape.

Civic Compassion Development

Guiding artists to understand their position in society and responsibility as the people of God. We want to see all artists develop a deep seeded attitude of compassion for the weak, and a practice of self-sacrifice for the benefit of the powerless.

Leadership & Entrepreneurial Development

Assisting in the development of applicable business and leadership skills to help artists step into positions of influence where their leadership represents the life of Christ in culture, reflects the values of the Kingdom of God, and equips others to do the same.

The Transform 4-month Artist Residency combines artistic and spiritual development for Christ-following visual artists currently living in New York City.

The residency provides shared studio space, pairing with a professional mentor, small groups and monthly dinners, and culminates in a group show.

4-Month NYC Residency

Transform’s nine-month artist residency (September through May) is a partnership between Transform, Friday Arts Project, and Christos Collective. The purpose of this residency is to catapult emerging artists to the next phase of a professional career by providing them with two rare resources for artists - time and space. Along with their professional pursuit, each artist will participate in a program to better understand the integration of their art and faith.

The nine-month residency takes place in Rock Hill, South Carolina. You will not only be challenged and encouraged to deepen your skill as an artist, but also grow as a person in community - grow in your skill and your walk with Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ. Rock Hill is a community with urban experience and aspirations yet rural love and respect. It is a community with award winning artists who are our neighbors, who raise their families and serve their local churches. The breadth of experience you will gain from a residency in Rock Hill is not only community connected - public partnerships, local business relations - but also spiritually deep - church & seminary partnerships, monastically driven. You will live in a downtown small city mere blocks from community members who are also trying to follow Jesus and be great at art.

To participate in this program, we provide training for artists to develop their own funding / patronage. This is an essential piece of this residency as it gives artists the freedom to dedicate all of their time to their creative and spiritual endeavors, along with developing the necessary skills to clearly communicate about one’s work to others.

Nine Month Residency

2-Month Bay Area Residency

Transform Arts is hosting our second annual, Bay Area Artist in Residency program in the heart of the Mission District at Space 124 with Project Artaud.

We are accepting submissions for artists of any medium who desire to work in community and along themes of spirituality and renewal. We are welcoming to artists of all religious and faith journeys.

The residency will take place in the beautiful Space 124** in the heart of the Mission district. Complete with tall ceilings, large windows, generous floor space and light. The space will serve as a studio/ art show location for the month of February for various disciplines of art. With an ethic of hospitality and community at the core of a temporary, shared studio space, we hope to cultivate a cohesive body of multidisciplinary artwork that is presented at a final opening show.
